On Saturday night I was extremely honoured to host Masoom’s 7th Annual oriental themed, Glamour Night for charity in London. I met some very inspirational women who dedicate their time to providing orphan sponsorship, financial aid, emergency supplies, educational facilities and support to vulnerable women and children across Tanzania, Pakistan, Syria and Gaza as well as working within their local communities too.
From projects such as the ‘Brick by Brick’ initiative that has set up a mosque and school in Pakistan, to the ‘Stitch’ project which teaches sowing skills as a means of income for female prison inmates in Pakistan and Tanzania to lift them out of the cycle of poverty, to the Hifz Ul Quran initiative educating female orphans to the gaining of qualifications for widows at Mwanza college in Tanzania, to a school set up in the heart of Olive Tree refugee camp, to humanitarian work carried out in Gaza, this small NGO has relentlessly worked hard to make a positive difference in the world and I was very proud to be part of it.
The sisters dressed up in accordance with the theme and the night unravelled an auction, Chinese ribbon and fan dance, songs, martial arts demo, quizzes, poetry and pledges, all making for a riveting evening that helped raise money for the thousands of people in dire need right now!
